This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. In collaboration with Karz Productions, the Minneapolis Institute of Art is proud to exhibit the artwork of the Minneapolis/St. Paul semifinalists in THE DREAM@50 Art Contest. Students in grades K-12 from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Memphis, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Los Angeles, and San Francisco/Bay Area were invited to create artwork inspired by a word or phrase from the “I Have a Dream” speech, with the artwork titled accordingly. A distinguished panel of local judges selected the Minneapolis/St. Paul semifinalists, whose artwork is on display at the museum. A Grand Prize winner will be honored at a Capitol Hill awards ceremony in August 2013.
