The Job
The Crating Technician is responsible for assisting Fine Art Packer with crate and box building for works of art within the museum according to accepted museum standards.
In this role, you will…
- Construct shipping crates and boxes, as specified by the Fine Art Packer, for shipment of outgoing works of art from the permanent and loan collections.
- Maintain shop space and tools used for crate construction.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Specific Requirements
- High school degree.
- Good carpentry skills and manual dexterity; experience working with hand and power tools.
- Design/construction of crates and art-handling experience in museum.
- Commercial gallery or fine arts shipping business preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to life 50 Ibs. (will be required to life heavier weights with the assistance of lifting equipment and/or staff).
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
