MINNEAPOLIS—September 4, 2018—This October, the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its annual Minneapolis Print & Drawing Fair, which offers the best opportunity in the Twin Cities to collect museum-quality fine art. Held October 6 and 7, with a special preview October 5, the event features hundreds of original works of art on paper at prices that appeal to newcomers and seasoned collectors alike. Admission to the fair is free, and proceeds benefit Mia’s Department of Prints & Drawings.

Twelve leading dealers from the United States and Europe will offer artwork by international artists. Buyers will find artwork from names like Francisco Goya, David Hockney, and Andy Warhol, to emerging and mid-career artists—like Delita Martin and Walton Ford—who have achieved regional, national, and international acclaim, to Japanese woodblock prints, both traditional and contemporary. Prices begin around $250.

The Print & Drawing Fair lounge, located near the museum’s Reception Hall, will offer pop-up artist talks, curator-led tours, hands-on poster screenprinting activities, a photobooth, and a comfortable area to read and research prints and processes through reference books from Mia’s Print Study library and “ArtStories” iPads. Sandwiches, snacks, and beverages will be available for purchase from Agra Culture Kitchen & Press in the MacMillan Atrium.

Talks are free and open to the public. The schedule is as follows:

• Saturday, October 6, at noon: Tom Rassieur, Mia’s John E. Andrus III Curator of Prints & Drawings, will lead an introduction to buying art and an accompanying tour.
• Saturday, October 6, at 1:30 p.m.: Stacey Davidson, South Carolina-based artist and professor at Winthrop University, will discuss her recent work and picks from the fair.
• Sunday, October 7, at 1:30 p.m.: Painter, printmaker, and Minnesota native Drew Peterson will give a talk on his series of abstract monoprints.
