Mia to Host Live Taping of The Object Podcast with Musical Guest Chastity Brown

Harlem Renaissance–themed episode and special musical performance take place November 15

Minneapolis—The Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) will host a live taping of its award-winning podcast The Object on November 15, featuring Minneapolis singer-songwriter Chastity Brown. Titled “The Renaissance Blues!,” the one-hour program will explore the art and artists of the Harlem Renaissance through curator conversation, storytelling, interactive quizzes, and live music.

After the taping, Mia’s Print Study Room will be open for two hours, offering visitors a special opportunity to view related artworks from the museum’s collection.

Now in its eighth season, The Object has pioneered a new way to talk about and learn art history. Hosted by Tim Gihring, the show ranks among the top 20% of podcasts by listenership and has been recognized by The New York Times for “carving out a place in national conversations” around art and culture.

Chastity Brown is a beloved singer-songwriter in Minneapolis. Her folk-influenced first album, Back-Road Highways, produced a hit single and earned her a tour with Dar Williams and Leon Russell. Her latest, Sing to the Walls, is a love album inspired by the poetic empowerment of Zora Neale Hurston’s novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, published in 1937 during the Harlem Renaissance era.

The Object is made possible by generous support from Ameriprise Financial.
