While sketching at Mia with the Twin Cities Urban Sketchers in May, I spent over an hour in front of my favorite contemporary painting in the collection. The beautiful hands in Kehinde Wiley’s painting “Santos Dumont—The Father of Aviation” inspired me to sketch their strong, expressive forms. I used colored and pastel pencils in a Kona toned tan sketchbook.
