Artist Talk: María Berrío

Join us for a conversation with artist María Berrío in conjunction with her exhibition “María Berrío: Songlines,” on view at Mia from September 12, 2026, to January 10, 2027. Berrío’s work brings us into worlds of flags fluttering in the air, humans enmeshed with the natural world, and birds flying into the unknown.

In discussion with Leslie Ureña, associate curator of Global Contemporary Art at Mia, and co-curator of the exhibition, Berrío will share more about the evolution of her practice and how she builds stories out of layers of paper, traces of graphite, swaths of watercolor paint, memory, and myths, as well as personal and global histories.
