October 13: Electric Adventure

Step into the world of artists, performers, and dazzling lights as you take in Mia’s newest exhibition, “At the Moulin Rouge,” on view October 12, 2024-March 9, 2025. Make a heart-and-chain paper necklace—like the fancy jewelry in Lautrec’s paintings—with Mia teaching artist Akiko Ostlund. Dance your heart out, then enjoy a performance by members of Young Dance. November 10: Wonders of Nature
This November, celebrate the wonders of nature! In honor of Native American Heritage Month, make art with Native artist Heather Friedli. Make your own fish-themed artwork (and use texture plates to give it scales!) alongside Mia teaching artists. Join local author John Coy and illustrator Chris Park for a reading and signing of their new book So Cold! Enjoy a performance by Wood N’ Wind before strolling about the galleries on a gallery hunt.

December 8: Five Senses
Explore the sights and sounds of Mia’s Tibetan Shrine Room, and create your own artwork inspired by the richness of Tibetan culture. Craft your own medallion design with Mia Teaching Artist Laura Wennstrom. WOW Mobile Metal Lab will pour bespoke metal figurines inspired by the Tibetan Shrine Room. Join a special chanting demonstration by the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota–all voices are welcome! Enjoy a live demonstration of Thangka painting before you search the galleries using a special guide made just for the Tibetan Shrine Room.
