Join us for our free monthly event for families, kids, and the young at heart. On the second Sunday of every month, the museum is filled with hands-on art activities, storytelling, artist demonstrations, gallery hunts, self-guided tours, and more—all inspired by Mia’s incredible collection.

January 11 | Around the World
Kick off the new year with a trip around the world at Mia. Did you know that Mia’s collection includes more than 100,000 works of art representing 5,000 years of world history and spanning across six continents! Enjoy music from Africa, make your own Scandinavian Dala horse, and listen to fun stories about travels in South America. Don’t miss this amazing international experience without hopping on a plane!
Create your own wooden Dala horse, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Dance to African rhythms with Siama’s Congo, 1, 2, and 3 p.m.
Design a postcard
Listen to sweet stories about travel with author Pamela Mercado Michelli, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

February 8 | Reflections
Celebrate Black artists with us at Mia’s February Family Day! Experience the power of the spoken word, enjoy a short film, and bust a move breakdancing. We’ll have guides stationed at selected artworks who’ll talk about some of the amazing artists in our collection. We can’t wait to see you there!

March 8 | Dragons and Monsters

April 12 | Kids in Bloom
Get ready for Kids in Bloom! Burst into spring with this fun and celebratory Family Day. Mia will host a “mini” Art in Bloom with kid florists. Strut your stuff on the floral catwalk and experience the joys of dance.

May 10 | May the Force Be with You
This May dress as your favorite Star Wars character and head to Mia for some Star Wars themed fun! Discover how this fun film saga relates to our collection and the arts. There’ll be a costume contest, Star Wars crafts, and maybe a few familiar characters roaming around the museum. Don’t miss this awesome chance to experience the Force this spring!
