The Object LIVE! Presented by Ameriprise Financial

Mia’s award-winning podcast, The Object, tells the surprising, true stories behind the art and artists in the collection. Called “playful, thoughtful, and elegant” and “on par with This American Life” by critics, it’s the museum as you’ve never heard it before. The Object LIVE! is a series of live taping events—everything you love about the podcast brought to life on stage.

May 21, 2026

This live taping of The Object podcast, hosted by Tim Gihring, features storytelling, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me–style quizzes and prizes, and very special musical guests Philip Brunelle and members of the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers. Plus, a curator conversation with Mia’s Director Katie Luber! It’s a big-hearted, irreverent romp through the Renaissance, all about the astounding art and life of painter and printmaker Albrecht Dürer on his 555th birthday and the timeless beauty of the cultural revolution that changed the world.

VocalEssence is one of the world’s premier choral ensembles, based in the Twin Cities and internationally celebrated for its adventurous and virtuosic musical experiences. The singers have toured widely, performed more than 300 commissioned works, and won more Chorus America awards than any other ensemble. The group has been led since its founding in 1969 by Philip Brunelle, a modern-day Renaissance man whose talents have played out across six decades and six continents, including many memorable appearances on A Prairie Home Companion.

Tickets available April 21.
