Vitality Arts: Impressionist Flowers in Watercolor

Develop your watercolor painting skills and increase your sensitivity to working with complementary colors in this five-week watercolor class led by teaching artist Coco Connolly. We’ll explore Impressionist techniques using watercolor to capture the effects of light, color, and atmosphere with flowers as our subjects.

On the first class, we’ll visit Mia’s new special exhibition “Women Impressionists and the Land.” There we’ll discover how Impressionist painters revolutionized flower painting in the late 19th century, as they moved away from the precise botanical accuracy of earlier traditions toward capturing more fleeting effects. Beginners and more experienced painters are welcome. There’s no better way to anticipate Mia’s popular spring event of Art in Bloom (April 22–25) than painting flowers!
