Vitality Arts: Women Impressionists and Pastels

Join teaching artist Sophia Weisensel as you use soft and oil pastels while studying Impressionist paintings in the special exhibition “Women Impressionists and the Land.” These studies, or “master copies,” serve multiple purposes: They’ll help you learn and become comfortable with the mediums; encourage expressive mark making you might not explore when copying photos or working from life; and unlock new insight into the paintings through color mixing, blending, and layering. You’ll make at least two soft pastel and two oil pastel pieces. All experience levels are welcome.
