Virtual Book Tours

Book tours are back! Virtual tours, facilitated by Mia guides, will relate works of art to popular books. A new book will be presented each month. Tours are free, but registration is required. This is a virtual tour that will take place over Zoom.  Click here to view upcoming book selections and tour times. While the tours are free, we extend a pay-what-you-wish donation opportunity to participants to support the museum.

What is a virtual tour?

A virtual tour is a real-time (synchronous) experience facilitated by a Mia tour guide on the Zoom or Google Meet digital platforms. We expect participants to have basic familiarity with these digital platforms. Your guide will invite you to look closely at artworks and ask open-ended questions to help you make connections and engage in conversation.

How do I request a virtual tour?

Private book tours are currently unavailable. More information about Fall 2021 tours will be available soon.

When do virtual tours happen?

Virtual tours take place between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, beginning on October 15, 2020. The last tour each day will begin no later than 2:00 pm.

What happens when I book my group tour?

Once the virtual tour is booked, a confirmation will be emailed to the requestor confirming the scheduled tour date and time. Your assigned guide will contact you via email 1-2 weeks prior to the scheduled tour date to discuss the tour. An invitation, for either Google Meet or Zoom (whichever you specified on the request form), will be sent one week prior to the tour date. We ask that group leaders share these link details with all participants. Thank you!

What happens on the day of my tour?

Tours will start at the appointed time. You will be admitted from the virtual waiting room at the start time.

Do I need to do anything after my tour?

To help us gauge the effectiveness of our new virtual tours, we will follow your tour with an evaluation survey and a pay-as-you-wish donation request. We ask the group leader to forward the survey and donation request to those who attended the tour. Your feedback is very important to us as we are committed to refining virtual tours as we learn from our visitors.

What if I need to cancel my virtual tour?

If you need to cancel your tour, email tours@artsmia.org as soon as possible so we may extend the opportunity to another group.
