Join us for new approaches to engagement with art in the galleries. Explore a new topic related to Mia’s permanent collection every month. Your guide will invite you to look closely at artworks and ask open-ended questions to help you make connections and engage in conversation. View upcoming public tour topics and times here.
Private Tours
Private tours of the permanent collection are available for student and adult groups of 10 people or more on a topic of your choice. Guided school and university tours are free. To request a private tour, access the appropriate Tour Request Form on the Tours page.

Inspired by Books tours relate works of art to popular books. A new book is presented each month. Public book tours are free. View upcoming book selections and tour times
Self-Guided Tours
If you have a group of 10 or more people (including yourself), please call or email our Visitor Experience staff prior to your visit, at 612.870.3000 or visit@artsmia.org. If your group arrives at the museum without pre-registering, you will need to fill out a self-guided visit form before taking your group into the galleries.

How do I request a private tour?
Fill out the Tour Request Form to request a private tour tour for your group. Private tours are subject to availability.
Which tour topics can I choose from?
We offer a variety of tour topics.
What happens when I book my group tour?
Once your tour is booked, a confirmation will be emailed to the requestor, confirming the scheduled tour date and time. Your assigned tour guide will contact you via email two to three weeks prior to the scheduled tour date to discuss the tour.
