Virtual Public Tours

Discover the museum on a virtual tour with the help of our trained tour guides. Look for a new topic exploring Mia’s permanent collection every month. Tours are free, but registration is required. While the tours are free, we extend a pay-what-you-wish donation opportunity to participants. Virtual tours take place on Zoom.

Private Tours

Private virtual tours are available January-March 2022. We intend to offer in-person tours beginning April. We will update the Tour Request Form when we are able to accept in-person registrations.

Virtual Book Tours

Virtual tours, facilitated by Mia guides, will relate works of art to popular books. A new book will be presented each month. Tours are free, but registration is required. Self-Guided Tours

If you have a group of 10 or more people (including yourself), please call or email our Visitor Experience staff prior to your visit, at 612.870.3000 or visit@artsmia.org. If your group arrives at the museum without pre-registering, you will need to fill out a self-guided visit form before taking your group into the galleries.

How do I request a private tour?

 
Fill out the Tour Request Form to request a private virtual tour tour for January to March 2022. Tour requests for April 2022 and beyond are not available at this time.

Which tour topics can I choose from?

 
We offer a variety of tour topics.

When do virtual tours happen?

 
Virtual tours take place between 10:00AM and 3:00PM, Tuesday through Sunday. The last tour each day will begin no later than 2:00PM.

What happens when I book my group tour?

 
Once the virtual tour is booked, a confirmation will be emailed to the requestor, confirming the scheduled tour date and time. Your assigned tour guide will contact you via email two to three weeks prior to the scheduled tour date to discuss the tour.
A video call invitation, for either Google Meet or Zoom, (whichever you specified on the tour request form), will be sent one week prior to the tour date. We ask that group leaders share these link details with all participants.

What happens on the day of my tour?

 
Tours will start at the appointed time. You will be admitted from the virtual waiting room at the start time.

Do I need to do anything after my tour?

 
To help us gauge the effectiveness of our new virtual tours, we will follow your tour with an evaluation survey and a pay-as-you-wish donation request. We ask the group leader to forward the survey and donation request to those who attended the tour. Your feedback is very important to us as we are committed to refining virtual tours as we learn from our visitors.
