Public Tours

Mia offers a variety of public tour experiences, including Inspired by Book tours, Guided Tours, In-Gallery Conversations, and Self-Guided Tours featuring monthly themes, exhibition-focused tours, and Stop & Chats.

Monthly Public Tours

Experience Mia through a new theme each month that highlights works from the museum’s collection. Monthly Public Tours alternate between two formats: Guided Tours and In-Gallery Conversations.

Guided Tours

Met your Mia guide at the Info Bar in the museum lobby. Tours last approximately one hour and offer an engaging exploration of the month’s theme. View upcoming Guided Tour themes and dates/times.

In-Gallery Conversations

Pick up a map at the museum’s Info Desk upon arrival. The map includes pins to help you locate featured artworks throughout the museum. Mia guides are stationed in the galleries for two hours, inviting visitors to stop by, look closely, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations inspired by the featured artworks. Join the conversation at your own pace as you explore the museum. View upcoming In-Gallery Conversation topics and dates/times.

Exhibition Tours

Explore Mia’s exhibitions through guided tours and informal gallery conversations led by Mia guides.

Exhibition Guided Tours

These one-hour guided experiences explore the exhibition’s themes, artworks, and ideas. Meet your guide at the entrance to the exhibition to discover the exhibition through close looking, discussion, and shared insights.

Exhibition Stop & Chats

Stop & Chats provide a flexible, drop-in experience within the exhibition galleries. Mia guides are stationed in the galleries for one hour. Join conversations about selected artworks—either those chosen by the guide or works that spark your curiosity. Explore the exhibition at your own pace and stop to engage with a guide whenever you like.

Inspired by Book Tours

These tours relate works of art to popular books. We feature a new book each month. Public book tours are free. View upcoming book selections and tour times.

Purcell Cutts House Tours

The Purcell-Cutts House, designed and built by William Gray Purcell and George Grant Elmslie, is a masterpiece of Prairie School architecture. The house has been extensively restored and is now a part of Mia’s collection. Tours take place the second full weekend of each month. Purchase tickets.
