Grettel Arrate Hechavarría

Grettel Arrate Hechavarría/ Pintora, Pintora Muralista, Dibujante, Fotógrafa y Diseñadora Gráfica. Nace en CUBA, Santiago de Cuba en 1964. Se gradúa de la Escuela Provincial de Artes Plásticas José Joaquín Tejada del Nivel Medio Superior en la especialidad de Pintura y Dibujo en el año 1983, y de Licenciada en Historia del Arte en la Universidad de Oriente en el año 1990 en Stgo de Cuba. Se desempeña como Directora del Centro Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, y como Vicepresidenta del Comité Provincial de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba en Stgo de Cuba, es miembro del Consejo Nacional de esta Organización. Ha participado en más de 200 exposiciones colectivas, ha realizado 15 exposiciones personales y sus obras se encuentran en colecciones institucionales y privadas en Cuba y el extranjero.

About the Artist

Grettel Arrate Hechavarría/ Painter, Muralist, Draftswoman, Photographer and Graphic Designer. She was born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba in 1964 and graduated in 1983 from the Jose Joaquin Tejada Provincial School of Plastic Arts with a specialty in Painting and Drawing. Following this degree she earned a masters in Art History from the University of the East in 1990 in Santiago de Cuba. Today, Arrate is the Director of Plastic Arts and Design at the Provincial Center, and also serves as Vice President on the Santiago de Cuba Provincial Committee of the Writers and Artists Union of Cuba. Arrate is also a member of the National Board for this same organization. Arrate has participated in more than 200 collective exhibitions, and has also completed 15 personal exhibitions of her works, which are found in institutional and private collections across Cuba and abroad.
